In other news, I found fabric that was suitable for finishing off my husband's family quilt. It wasn't an exact match of course, as most of the fabrics are 1950's to 1970's, but I like how it turned out. I never once used the sewing machine on this quilt for the binding. It was a challenge to make my own bias binding and then to hand stitch it on. I was very pleased with how it turned out though! I can't wait till I get my own hex quilt done!!!
GRANNY'S QUILT

I also had sandwiched a quilt before leaving California, and have now quilted it. I finished the binding last night. This is the Shaggy Mountain pattern that I actually taught to beginner quilters! I got the fabrics for this one from a quilting day that my old quilt guild did. We got a packet with the fabric all cut and ready to piece. You wouldn't find out what colors you'd have till you went to the "Fun Day" event.

Today I got word that my fishbowl pincushion was not a winner in the contest. :( Oh well, it still is a very cool pincushion! I should get it back in my hands sometime next month.
Now back to organizing along with liberal breaks of working on my own hexagon quilt. By the time this studio is done, I might be done with the black hex's around the flowers! (NOT) lol

Sherri, you did a wonderful job on your family flower garden, that calico works great as a binding. I love the colors in your shaggy mountains. I am so glad that you are settled in your new home. Sunshine
