I would like you to meet a little friend of mine, Abby. She is mostly found hanging around my other blog, but today she wanted to be a part of last week's creative prompt. So, there she is, under the radar. It's good she isn't flying. (giggle) Two points if you get my pun.
Two donation quilts are sandwiched and I've started another. Not much else has gone on in the sewing room. I hope more will happen next week though.
Till next time! Happy sewing!!!

Lots of Friday Stuff
I had a fantastic day in the studio! So many projects and so little time! The day just flashed by in an instant. Next Friday seems a long ways away. Since I have so much to share I thought I would also post this as an "Off the Wall Friday" posting.
In no particular order, here are some of the things I did today:
Appliqued block #4 is out for the Jingle Belle quilt. I sewed the stems onto the background square and will be working on the individual pieces next.
Jaye (Artquiltmaker) must be thinking about me again. Every time she does, I work on the border strips. I got all the white flowers done for the top border today. Those flowers are each just a little larger than a quarter. I satin stitch around each one as well as stitching in the centers of each.
On the design wall I have some fabric cut out and ready to sew together for a charity quilt I will be making. I was gifted the fabric and I think it will make an adorable quilt for a boy.
I put together an apron for the holidays. It has two pockets on it. It was in a pile of fabric given to me. The apron was cut out, as well as the two pockets. There were two strips that I made into the apron strings. I had to wing it for the rest of it. I ended up putting some binding tape around the whole thing to finish the edges. I also backed the pockets before sewing them on. It turned out pretty cute!
All week I've been working on the second border of the My Tweets quilt. You can see my progress from the top part of the picture, where I started at down to the bottom part where I left off at last night.

Those red parts are strawberries...or at least they will be when I am done with them!

I have been neglecting my creative prompts. I actually had this one done several months ago. Posting photos is an ordeal for me, so I often procrastinate and don't post as often as I could.
This is CPP #156 - Rose and #158 - Bird
I don't know why there are three jets or a hot sun or the odd bug. I often look back on drawings and can't recall why I drew what I did. Sometimes I see how much work I put into a particular drawing and marvel at how much work or effort I must have put into it! Other times I get aggravated because I can't make a picture look like it looks in my brain. I still keep on doing them though.
So that's the latest from here.
Happy Sewing!

Creative Prompt Lalapaloza!
I have not updated my Creative Prompts in a long time! Here are all the new ones from December till just yesterday!
Some of the drawings have extra parts that are not actual Creative Prompts but I felt like doodling them in anyway! Hope you enjoy them!

Creative Prompts and Leaf Quilt
I have been in a more traditional artist mode in that I have been in the mood to draw more. I am not happy with this rendition however, of #140-Birthday:
I might bore you with more of these odd people as I try to create some type of cartoon-ish characters for illustrations on my other blog. I want more of my own original works instead of 'borrowing' photos or clip art online.
#139-Triangles turned out better. I really like this one. It is colored with both Prisma colored pencils and water colors. I just started drawing triangles and all of a sudden thought they looked like breaking glass. I am pleased that this turned out actually looking like I knew what I was doing!

I took down all the pieces that were on my design wall this morning and put up some of the blocks from my Leaf Quilt. I knew the contrast was going to be off. It is going to be made specifically for our California King bed though. One thing I learned from this was that I really do need to pay more attention to contrasts.
It will still be a neat quilt. I just wish I had seen the lack of contrast more. By the way, do you see the ghost in this? I am sure it is just a speck of dust floating by, but it could be a ghost too. Hopefully it is a friendly one!
That is it for the day! Happy Sewing!!!

Production Mode
I finished the black and white June block of the month quilt in time to take it to my guild meeting on Monday. It turned out pretty good and is being donated to the charity quilts our guild makes for various area programs.
Yes, yes, I know. I did more than one baby. I've been on an owl kick of late. Maybe that is a baby squirrel too?
I was playing around with water colors. This one is pretty simple, but I think I am going to incorporate more water colors in future projects.
That is it for today! I have a bunch of stuff going on in the studio, but nothing worth showing yet. Happy Sewing!!!
Here is a closeup of the simple stippling I did:
I had four blocks leftover and incorporated them in the back of the quilt:
And a closeup of the back too, for good measure!
I also finished two more creative prompts! This one is #137-Baby:

More Creative Prompts #135 and #136
Sometimes my Creative Prompt Project is the only project that actually gets completed! Soon Project Runway starts again, as does Weeds. Then on to Dexter, Homeland, Being Human, and all those dark shows I gravitate towards.

To tie this in with my prompts, I give you my

Creative Promts: 132-Ocean, 133-Green, and 134-Flicker
#133 - Green
And #134 - Flicker
I am working on a few more. It is super hot this week with the temps in the 100's and last night's low temp was 81°. I am not in the mood to quilt much! Instead I will head to the pool with the child today. Don't worry, I will use plenty of sunscreen!

Three Creative Prompts, and More Bridges Work
Creative Prompt #130-Eleven came in real close to my son's eleventh birthday.
Creative Prompt #131 - Hills: My 'hills' are alive with music. (From "The Sound of Music")
Creative Prompt #129This prompt wasn't a word. Jaye had put this picture up for inspiration:
I printed that picture and used it as both the body and reflection of my duck/goose/swan creature.I was playing around with the bridges quilt. You can see the organized mess on my table, surrounding the bridges quilt. I am playing around with some floral embellishment possibilities.

Here is a closer shot of the quilt without all the clutter around it:
I really am not sure where I am going with this and I will be surprised if I get it done by Monday's deadline. But that is ok with me. I don't want to force it to come together poorly JUST to finish it on time. If it doesn't get done in time, I will finish it another day!I am also working on my ATC cards, but I don't have photos of them right now. Maybe later this weekend. That's it for today! Happy sewing!

Finally, SOMETHING to Report!
Above are the attempts of block making for the March block-of-the-month for my guild. The arched one on the right did not make it as I felt it would be too tricky to have everyone do, much less writing out directions that would make sense! I do like the two on the left though, and will be working on them for the March newsletter. I have always been a fan of purple and blue!Ziva asks, "Can I come in there with you Mom?"

I am also posting a bunch of creative prompts that I have finished.
#126 is Pumpkin
#124 is Anger
#121 is Aquarium
#119 is Wings
#116 is Breakfast
#125 is Dark
That's all the latest from these parts! See ya next time.

Buzz, Buzz, Buzz
I managed to get two creative prompts done!
#109 was Anniversary:
#109 was Anniversary:
We were married by the sea, in a little gazebo, overlooking the ocean. I hope we can go there again someday, for an anniversary too! The gazebo we actually had was a lot prettier than this one, but you get the idea! Remember, you can click on the pictures for a larger version.#115 was Flight:
Sometimes I just crack myself up!

Creepy Creative Prompts
With Halloween right around the corner, I've got costumes and creepy thoughts on the brain!I did my Creative response to #120 - Willow. I made my version of a Will-o'-the-wisp in an old dead willow tree.
Spooky!

Creative Prompt #122 was Dress and I did a version of the costumes we wear when performing at renaissance faires. You wouldn't see me in purple and pink though! Those colors are not considered "period correct" for the costume inspectors.
Speaking of costumes, get a look at this:

This is me in my renfaire costume. I made most of the costume myself. The brown overdress is not made by me. I did have to take it in, about eight inches, because of all the weight I've lost!
The Me on the left is the newer me and the Me on the right is from about five years ago. As of today, I've lost almost 80 pounds. Thank goodness I am able to make the alterations!
I am busy with guild stuff this month. In fact, I am looking forward to November and the holidays because things tend to slow down for me then! You would think the holidays would be a stressful time, but not for me! I am looking forward to enjoying them and doing a lot of quilting too!

Creative Prompts and Tweeting
I finished two older Creative Prompt words today. #106 was KISS. Since I had been seeing promos for the new season of "Family Jewels" with leader of the group, Gene Simmons, this response seemed appropriate!
#110 was the word BECKON, and I interpreted it this way:
I still enjoy doing these prompts. Click on Clara the Cow at the right of my blog if you want to join in too! You don't have to be Picasso to participate!
I finished block number six in the My Tweets block of the month. I am behind by two blocks right now, but I am working on them!
I need to arrange my schedule better so I can do more in my studio! I have been too busy in other areas of my life. I think I should adjust that because I get wacky if I ignore my creative urges too much!
