Baby it's hot outside!

Our air conditioner gave up the ghost on Thursday. We have to wait till Tuesday to get a replacement unit. In the meantime we have two little window AC units to keep the house just this side of a livable temperature! Of course this is one of the hottest months of the year in Arkansas! Outside it is in the upper nineties! The little units have been able to keep the house in the low eighties though.

Because of the heat and our house layout, the studio is sweltering. I haven't done much in the way of machine sewing. I also shut my computer down for most of the day. That would be a good thing if I didn't have to shut the studio down too!

We are having a moat built outside at the same time:

Here is a window shot outside the studio:
Ok, truth be told it is a french drain system that is being installed. We've had water and moisture issues in the crawlspace beneath the house. This should take care of that and give our house a longer lease on life!

I've been able to do a lot of hand sewing. I decided to make a second basket block for the guild's block-of-the-month:
The pattern has button centers, as an option, to add to the flowers. I haven't decided if I will do that yet or not. I now have two done:
I am working on the next go-around on the Cathedral Window quilt too. It just isn't fair that I get my mojo back and now cannot use the studio!!!

Just before the AC went out, I had made progress on the latest challenge quilt:
I have a limited amount of fabric to use for this challenge.

Here it is, already for the sewing machine work and thread painting:
The latest creative prompt was NIGHT:

I hope to have another posting mid-week, when the studio is usable for more than an hour!!! Keep cool all!

Just when I think you couldn't possibly add one more thing to your drawing, you come up with something fantastic. GREAT job! Thanks, as usual, for participating.

well of course.....why else would that skunk and owl be out? Isn't it past Violet's bedtime?

Very eerie though that it is dark on one side of the house and bright on the other...just sayin....does anyone else hear the twilight zone theme music?

I know it is that way. But then how many folks have mice as big as mine and a cartoon character in their house? :D
