Oh studio, how you make my heart sing!
Here is my cutting table with bits cut up and more waiting to be cut or trimmed. I might make a purse out of the tapestry. The red fabric is backing for a quilt that is almost done. So much quilty and fabric-y goodness!
"Thing One" (my original Pfaff) is getting a workout. I'm sewing small blocks together and 'pillows'. I love watching the squirrels and birds out my window as I work.
Below are the pillows at stage one. They are for the Cathedral Windows quilt.
I fold them in half and sew up each edge.
I will later match up the side seams and sew across the area, making a little pillow.
I will share more of this on another post.
The Charlie Brown Christmas quilt is almost done!
I have to share a story about it. Last Saturday morning and my husband, who shares my studio space, was watching one of those quilting shows on PBS with me. He asked me about the simplistic nature of the show. I said I figured they used easier quilts in order to not scare away beginners. I also said that I often get a hint or tip that I hadn't thought of before. On this show they talked about how to match points on the cornerstones on a quilt, I actually got the idea on how to do the sewing so the points matched better on MY quilt! It was such a simple idea.
In the past I would sew a strip and square and strip and square to make a long line. I always had the hardest time, lining up the points! The method on the TV show was to do a strip first, then a strip and square, matching points as you go. SO simple! Why hadn't I tried this before?
I am going to up-cycle this shift. It is a nice linen one that I really love, except for the neckline. I want to make a collar for it and perhaps drop a v-neck in it. If that works, I might try my hand at embroidery to see if I can dress it up a little bit too.
The Cathedral Window's quilt is forever in progress. Those are completed pillows on top of the pansy box. The box has my squares and supplies in it for this quilt. After the yellow row of squares I will need to attach more pillows before proceeding with the next color of squares.
Phew! You can see, I've been busy! I love it. Next time I will have updates on all this and another round of sketches. Hope to see you then.
Happy sewing y'all!
